The first book in the Mmusi series is called Mmusi and Friends. It is the colourful story of a young boy, who lives in the bushveld in a small village in Botswana. The three books are all about his wild “friends” and his amazing imagination. He lives with his much loved Granny and loves to observe all the wild african animals that visit the waterhole not far from the village.
The stories are based on real life experiences although some have a touch of whimsy added to them. There is a story of a colourful chameleon and a mob of meerkats. A young giraffe, a lost baby hippo, a pride of lion and some bothersome monkeys. Let’s not forget to mention the cheetah with a pesky flea companion and a dapper little kingfisher. All of these beautiful animals capture the interest and the imagination of the little boy.

Props such as finger puppets bring stories to life. They encourage the imagination. The finger puppets are crocheted in the ‘Amigurumi’ style of crochet, and are all made by a community of talented women, some retired, who do this work to supplement their income. The puppets are unique and all made using earth-friendly and hypo-allergenic 100% bamboo yarn. They fit an adult sized finger as they are not meant to be used as toys, rather as props to aid the process of storytelling.
The next book in the series of Mmusi, will be ready ….. one day …..hopefully not too far away. The book is also available for purchase on its own.
